This concert was poor quality; first off, the DJ’s were unsure of the music to be played as the crowd was not moving; the toilets were limited leaving patrons having to wait long intervals to use the restrooms; and i could not get into the main act.. maybe i was not drunk enough
Oh it gets better than that.
There were supposed to be upperdeck tickets sold (VIP), where those who paid 150 dollars a ticket were supposed to get snacks, drink specials and proper seating. We got none of that. And I would say that is a bait and switch.
instead we got a make shift "VIP" area (no roof, so we got rained on), with one tray of snacks delivered at 10pm at night, which was for about 6 people. We had no seating, besides 2 seats for 8 people.
And we got ejected from pool side seating. Even though the tickets stated decktop would get access to all areas. I paid 600 dollars for 4 tickets. Those in the cabanas paid 1000 dollars for teh whole cabana. That would be 8 people. So I not only paid more per ticket, but was treated worse than cabana seats who got free drinks!
Those who had decktop tickets were offered free drinks the next night at margaritaville. So in order to get "compensated" for the bait and switch. We had to go out the next night. no matter how you felt, of if you wanted to drink the next night or not. If you did not take up thier "generous" offer you were out of luck.
Before the concert started, I requested my money back. Becuase nothing that was advertised for my tickets was happening. I was refused. This fiasco was not an act of god. As the "out" for the promoters. The fiasco was created by the event organizers themselves. And there was alot more issues than this. Security guards unsure of any type of rules. giving people the wrong information. can bring a drink in this area, cant’ bring anything in this area. Not allowed there, oops. 5 min later, you are allowed there.
So we ended up paying the most. And getting the least for our night out. What the event coordinators should have done is offered upper deck ticket holders, a refund of 50 dollars each. By bringing in your deck wrist band to the radio station. At least then, we would have paid the same amount as the other 100 dollar vip people.
What really burns me is, i paid for 4 tickets. That’s 600 dollars out of my pocket. Almost as much as 8 people who paid for cabana tickets (they paid 125 per). And my party of 4 got treated very very badly.
Hey everybody – this was great entertainment! Stuart Wilson’s band was fab and Sean Paul sang all of his his great songs and I saw virtually everyone moving and singing. Event the promotor could not have known that the wet and wild waves hitting high on the SMB beach would cause them to change the lay out of the concert last minute. Let’s not discourage this and other promotor’s from continuing to try and bring us good entertainment to the island. It can not be easy to attract high paying talent to this small island. I think it was a job well done! big berd – tell me where you watering hole is and I will put a tab on the bar for you!
