Rotary Central and the library took
a leaf from the book of all good educators by promoting reading last Saturday.
More than 40 preschoolers attended
the special Teddy Bear’s Storytelling event at the George Town Library.
Youngsters also were encouraged to bring their favourite teddy bear or plushy.
Miss Teen Leanne Ritch read to the
children, and Community Librarian Deborah Powery-Zureigat spoke to parents
about the many benefits of fostering a love of reading in children. She also
advised that children from birth to 17 are entitled to register for library
cards.
The children also got to indulge in
a teddy bear craft using coloured paper, glue and their fertile imaginations,
and enjoyed cup cakes donated by Frosted Robin.
Regular Saturday Storytime events
take place every weekend from 11am to noon.
