Cayman hedge fund community goes online

A media company in the Cayman
Islands has launched a website aimed at educating and promoting the hedge fund
industry. The website, www.CaymanHedgeFunds.com, is a product of CHF Media Ltd.

As individual hedge fund managers
constantly receive queries about service providers in the industry, the company
planned to develop and launch the website, to serve as a clearing house for
local hedge fund professionals to contribute articles, participate in
discussion forums, promote their organisations and provide useful information
on their industry.

Frederick Wilks, one of the
advisers behind the website project, noted that the launch of the site is quite
timely, given the recent proposal by the European Union’s finance ministers for
changes to be made to regulations governing the hedge fund industry, which
could impact the sector in the Cayman Islands. He noted that the Cayman Islands
is the biggest offshore centre for hedge funds and such a web portal would
become a vital part of how the industry presents and promotes itself.

“CaymanHedgeFunds.com will enable
those of us in the industry as well as investors to have access to the most
comprehensive and up-to-date information on the industry,” he stated.

“It is a one-stop web portal with
information on Cayman hedge funds, where members of the hedge fund community
can receive breaking industry news, newsletters, latest statistics and recent
court rulings. It will also provide in depth analysis of current developments
in other jurisdictions that might affect the local hedge fund industry,” he
added.

Hedge fund companies can post their
media releases to the site as well as list their calendar of events and
conferences. The website will also feature webinars on topical issues.

“In the future, CaymanHedgeFunds.com
will also include a database of all the active hedge funds registered in the
Cayman Islands,” Mr. Wilks said.

The site is designed and created by
Web Together, an award-winning offshore web design company.
