The travel industry worldwide is
looking to spend more money than ever before on social media in 2011.
According to a survey by Frommers
and Troonz, 70 per cent of travel companies surveyed said they were intending
to increase marketing budgets to online outlets next year.
Increases in mobile marketing are
projected to increase by 50 per cent and general travel content by 63 per cent.
Mobile has now increased by 114 per cent between 2009 and 2010 and mobile web
services by 98 per cent.
Brand consistency was also on the
minds of the industry. Outsourcing divided the respondents, with 47 per cent
saying it was of concern. Outsourcing online marketing was something that 37
per cent were worrying about.
