Death inquiry date set

Magistrate Nova Hall has set Monday, 16 July, as the date for the preliminary inquiry into a charge of murder against Windell Wellington Dilbert.

Dilbert, 73, is accused of murdering Michael Elliot Ebanks, 40.

Mr. Ebanks was found dead at his residence in Courts Road on the evening of Friday, 1 June. Court records confirmed that Dilbert had the same address.

On Wednesday, 20 June, Defence Attorney Menelik Miller asked the magistrate about a psychiatric report ordered during Dilbert’s first court appearance, on 11 June.

The magistrate asked prison officials to follow up and make sure the appropriate appointment was made.

Mr. Miller also asked for a long form preliminary inquiry, meaning that one or more witnesses would be asked to give evidence in person rather than through a statement.

If the magistrate holding the inquiry considers that the evidence is sufficient to put Dilbert on trial, she will commit him to the Grand Court.

After the July date, the next session of Grand Court begins on Wednesday, 5 September.
