Security Centre keeps crime at bay

As many security experts will testify, property crime is more often than not opportunist. Keeping burglars out of the home or office can simply be a matter of making your property secure,

The Security Centre Limited’s new vaults, locks and safes retail showroom offers residents an opportunity to see exactly what security products are available to suit all requirements, spanning from padlocks through to modern security systems, states a press release.

‘Whether you want to protect your house, family, commercial premises or even your boat, this new ‘one stop security shop’ has it all,’ the release says.

Marine security is one of the centre’s latest offerings and is likely to prove a popular line here in Cayman with so many boat owners.

Considering that a staggering 80 per cent of vessels which sink do so at their docks. this new sophisticated alarm system can alert boat owners before it’s too late.

The Marine Magellan is an all-in-one wireless monitoring and security system that can notify owners of any eventuality where their boat is concerned as well as track any would-be pirates via GPS should they make it away with their ‘booty’.

While crime is still thankfully low in the Cayman Islands, sensible security precautions will ensure it stays that way. The team working out of the TSCL’s new showroom believe that the best way to keep crime down is to make it as difficult as possible for the would-be villain to enter people’s property and slow them down should they make it inside.

‘We are seeing more people becoming increasingly vigilant about their homes and more aware that appropriate security systems can keep their property safe,’ says Tim Pickles, the firm’s Technical Sales Consultant.

Mr. Pickles recently joined the TSCL team and has 10 years experience in the security business.

Another recent addition is Alan Montgomery, a professional Master Locksmith with 18 years experience.

Heading up the new showroom and the Vaults, Locks and Safes division of TSCL is Sales Manager Shaun Devine. He says the new showroom gives customers a chance to see the sophisticated products on the market that can help them keep their homes safe.

‘With the new showroom people can come in anytime and ask all the questions and get all the answers they need to about how to protect their homes and businesses,’ he said. ‘They can take a close look at the type of products and systems we can supply and consider their options,’ said Mr. Devine.

‘Many people are not fully aware of how vulnerable their homes are and that it doesn’t take much to make them considerably more secure. We are happy to assess a home or business and provide a free estimate of the security features that would make their homes or their business premises more secure.’

The new showroom is designed to meet the needs of local business owners as well as residential needs.

There is a full range of safes from small units that can fit in a small cupboard, drop box safes right through to much larger custom made vaults.

All of these can be delivered and fitted by an expert.

The store has some 900 different key systems, including High Security double ridge systems which are sophisticated enough to fox even the canniest of lock pickers. Alongside state-of-the-art slim-line Intruder Alarm systems and the latest in modern CCTV, Access Control and Fire Detection systems, Mr. Devine says that the retail division of TSCL has residential and commercial security needs completely covered with its wide range of retail products.

‘We want people to come in and ask questions. Whatever they need to know we can help,’ he says. ‘It is our business to keep people and property safe and secure. No matter what that takes we will endeavour to achieve that.’

Mr. Pickles noted that security systems are not necessarily all about crime. As well as burglar alarms the store stocks motion detector lighting, smoke alarms, flood detectors, CO2 and noxious fume detectors, and a full range of CareGard personal protection systems giving a lifeline to the elderly or infirm.

For most people their home or business is their biggest investment and protecting those investments against crime or damage can cost considerably less then people think, advises Mr. Devine, who says people usual wait until it is too late to address their security needs.

‘Anyone who is not sure about their security requirements can go on-line to our website at www.security.ky and complete a quick survey and submit it to us. We can then advise them what they can do to make their property more secure within the clients given budget,’ he said
