Stephen Baldwin keynote speaker at YCLA Awards

Hollywood actor Stephen Baldwin will be the keynote speaker at the upcoming Young Caymanian Leadership Awards.

Mr. Baldwin, the youngest of the Baldwin acting clan, has starred in more than 60 feature films and is currently host of the hit television show Livin’ It, featuring young Christian athletes involved in extreme sports, said YCLA press release.

The YCLA gala event will take place on Saturday, 11 March at the Ritz-Carlton Grand Ballroom, and will be televised live by CITN, the release said.

‘The Ritz is the perfect elegant setting and backdrop for an evening that will feature plenty of local star power as well as this remarkable young Hollywood celebrity who has such a special message to share with the youth,’ said Jackie Hansen, Director of the Young Caymanian Leaders Foundation.

‘Then there is the local star power. The Committee has just met this week to select this year’s five finalists, and I can assure you that all of Cayman will be excited and proud to recognize these bright and shining young Caymanian stars. Although there is only one award recipient, we have an incredible line-up of young leaders who will inspire and astonish everyone as we get to know them better on Awards night.’

The YCLA is rolling out the red carpet this year with classic Hollywood style as its theme.

‘We’ll be having fun with glitz, glamour and pizzazz,’ said Mrs. Hansen, ‘and of course live entertainment, special video documentaries on each finalist and lots of other surprises. Now is the time to book tables, which are selling out very quickly.’

Known for his inspiring work with young people, Stephen Baldwin speaks passionately about balancing the professional demands of a career with family obligations, his faith and the public responsibilities demanded by possessing celebrity status.

‘Many of our leaders young and old must deal with issues such as these,’ added Mrs. Hansen. ‘During our selection process of the YCLA, we look for young Caymanians who have successfully achieved a healthy balance and who excel as leaders in the categories of community, professional and personal.’

The five finalists will be announced soon. The name of the YCLA recipient is kept secret until the night of the event.

‘The awards gala has sold out the past six years, so we encourage people to reserve their tickets right away,’ said Melissa Wolfe, Foundation Coordinator. ‘Attending the gala is a great way to show support for our young leaders as well as experience the excitement first hand.’
