For the first time ever, persons from around the world will be able to view Dominica’s carnival live when activities for Mas Dominique 2006 are broadcast on the Internet, a press release said.
The Carnival Development Committee, in partnership with the New York-based media company, are taking Mas Dominique 2006 to a global audience through live audio and video streaming.
‘This is an excellent and exciting opportunity to showcase our culture and way of life to anyone with a computer and an Internet connection anywhere around the world,’ said Val Cuffy, chairman of the CDC.
A four member team will stream ‘live’ the National Queen Show, the National Calypso Finals, the party Monarch and Soca Fest, and the National Carnival Street Parades and Jump up from 23 February to 1 March, the release added.
The team will also provide coverage on The World and the Caribbean television show on Channel 34 Time Warner in New York; Caribbean Spotlight on WWRL 1600 AM; Caribbean Life newspaper; Caribbean Impact newspaper and Caribbean Travel & Entertainment News.
‘With the carnivals and culture being part of the driving force in expositing our Caribbean territories to the rest of the world, we are excited that Mr. Valantine Cuffy and the Dominica Carnival Development Committee have taken the initiative to stream the 2006 carnival events live on the Internet via We are the Caribbean Media Services,’ said David Cumberbatch, the media company’s executive director.
