Cayman Cowboys a novel

Cayman Cowboys, an action/adventure novel with an element of suspense, set in Grand Cayman was published recently and may soon be in local bookstores.

Written by North Carolina resident Eric Douglas, the tale centres round the main character of underwater photographer Mike Scott and features several well known local landmarks including Sunset House.

Although not based on anyone or anyone thing the story was inspired by the author’s first visit in 2002. The plot revolves around a protest about developer ruining the coral reef while secretly in search of sunken treasure, a robbery and goes into overdrive when a girl turns up dead.

According to the writer, the title is meant to refer to the characters who do what is right even if it is not the easiest thing to do by standing up for what is proper and protecting each other.

Out in trade paperback format, Cayman Cowboys is the 38-year-old’s, first novel. The training director for Divers Alert Network the international dive safety association a dive instructor/dive medic is now working on two other literary projects. The first is a follow up to Cayman Cowboys, and the second is a rescue manual.

Published by PublishAmerica, Mr. Douglas said that he is currently in talks with Sunset House as to dates when he could possibly do a book signing there. He has also been in discussions with local retailer Hobbies and Books about whether it would carry the book.

Mr. Douglas thinks Cayman Cowboys will appeal to divers and to those who enjoy the novels of Clive Cussler and Tom Clancy.
