Local computer store Micro Matrix recently made a donation of school supplies to X107.1’s school supply drive.
dms Broadcasting station spearheaded an initiative to collect school supplies for the less fortunate students in preparation for the upcoming school year.
Micro Matrix owner Sandra Catron said she was pleased to be part of this school supplies drive.
‘I am delighted to have been able to help, even if just one child is able to benefit from this project that will have been well worth it. The truth of the matter is we can put a lot of emphasis on education but if the children do not have the bare necessities to make their learning experience comfortable and have basic supplies it will be that much more difficult for them to learn. It is very important that all children are given the opportunity to live up to their highest potential and we were just thrilled that we were part of that.’
The school drive lasted for several weeks and Micro Matrix had a large box that customers and management were able to make contributions to. Eventually the box, along with others, will be given to the Department of Family Services for distribution to needy children. Ms Catron stressed that donations of this nature should be ongoing all the time.
‘It is very important that we all realize the role we can play in giving back to our community. I am pleased to always make whatever donations we can and helping out the children of Cayman is something that Micro Matrix is please to be a part of.’
