As part of its on-going commitment to the community, Ogier & Boxalls raised CI$3,000 in July send the eight foster kids from the National Council of Voluntary Organisations’ Nadine Andreas Residential Foster Home to summer camp and to purchase their school supplies.
Denise Gower, Business Development and Marketing Manager at Ogier & Boxalls fully supported the idea.
‘We feel strongly about initiating causes such as this one as we are able to give something meaningful to those kids who would otherwise do without. It is wonderful to be able to directly impact a child’s life in such a positive way’.
The $3,000 not only covered the full costs of attending two summer camps and their school supplies for the upcoming year, but there was enough left over to take the whole group of them to the movies, complete with popcorn and sodas.
‘We are extremely grateful to the staff of Ogier & Boxalls for their generous donation, which enabled our foster children to have an active and exciting summer,’ Janice Wilson, CEO of the centre said.
The money was raised as part of the Friday Dress Down Day programme at Ogier & Boxalls. Each Friday all staff members are invited to dress casually and contribute however much they wish to the monthly charity. The funds raised are then matched by the firm.
‘In January, we polled the staff to see what organisations they would like to support’, explained Gower. ‘This particular cause and specifically the idea of sending these kids to camp and to purchase their school supplies was one that the employees strongly supported. Every kid wants to go to camp’.
The September charity for Ogier & Boxall’s dress down day is Hospice Care.
