Foster’s Food Fair 800m Sea Swim set for Saturday

After having been cancelled twice in July due to Hurricanes Dennis and Emily, the 21st Annual Foster’s Food Fair 800m Sea Swim has been rescheduled for this Saturday, September 17th. The race will start at 4pm at Governor’s Beach, and finishes at Public Beach on West Bay Road.

This year, the Foster’s Food Fair 800m sea swim is being dedicated to the memory of Mr. David Foster, a long-time friend and supporter of the sport of swimming in the Cayman Islands.

The Foster’s Food Fair 800m Sea Swim represents the longest continual sponsorship and one of the most popular sea swims in the Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association’s Open Water Sea Swim Calendar. Last year, over 170 swim enthusiasts participated in the race, breaking the record for overall participation in an open water event held in the Cayman Islands.

Distinctive ‘Bobble-Head’ Trophies will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in all age group categories.

Regardless of finishing position, every swimmer will receive a T-shirt, refreshments donated by Progressive Distributors Ltd, and pizza. Participants in the Foster’s Food Fair 800m Sea Swim will be required to wear distinctive red swim-caps for safety reasons. The swim caps will be provided free upon registration.
