‘Seeing the huge potential and being a part of helping that potential be realized. This is for me the joy of being a volunteer,’ said long-time volunteer Toni Johnson.

Shari Bovell, principal of the Lighthouse School and a leader of the Special Olympics movement says the rewards for volunteers are plentiful. ‘It’s all about the smiles and pride seen in the athletes, that’s your reward as a volunteer.’

‘It’s very fulfilling to help young men and women reach their potential in sports,’ said SOCI coach Penny McDowall

‘Short durations of hard work, but a lifetime of memories and rewards,’ added SOCI leader Darrel Rankine.
