The DiveAid fund raising event held 11 September in aid of the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund raised US$3,568.75.
In a press release, event organiser Andrew Hope expressed his thanks to all those who participated and helped raise this amount of money.
‘I would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who helped raise this fantastic amount, starting with a huge thanks to all the divers on Island who went diving on a date that will always be remembered in the Cayman Islands for the arrival of Ivan,’ he said.
He went on to thank CIBC Wealth Management, Linda from Rackams, Jane Harvey, local media, Jacques Scott and Vision Marketing for their help.
Dive operators who took part by donating their time, money and equipment were especially thanked: Ocean Frontiers, DiveTech, Sunset Divers, Don Fosters, Red Baron Divers, Peter Milburn Diving, Divers Down, Cayman Diving School, Red Sail and Divers Supply.
Producers who were on island filming for the TV special Penn & Teller: Off the Deep End also contributed to the fund.
‘I want to assure everybody concerned that every penny raised has gone to the American Red Cross Katrina Appeal via the Cayman Red Cross and once again thank you for your generous support,’ said Mr. Hope.
