Four local athletes have done the Cayman Islands proud.
Geoffrey Butler, Tori Flowers, Lauren Hill and Alex Pascal competed at the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games in the Isle of Man. Butler, a swimmer, took part in four events with his best result being a sixth place finish in the men’s 400 metre individual medley. Flowers swam in three events with a 14th place finish in the women’s 800 metre freestyle being her best mark. Hill, a gymnast, would vault to 12th. Pascal, a javelin thrower, would produce the highest finish for the Cayman Islands. He placed fifth in the men’s javelin throw by recording a throw of 60.18 metres.
The Commonwealth Youth Games wrapped up on Tuesday, 13 September. All four athletes are slated to arrive home this week.
