Police arrest wanted man

Police arrested a 26-year-old man in the George Town area Monday, who they have been hunting since Saturday, 9 September, after he fled the scene where police seized a gun and ammunition.

He had been stopped in his car by police near the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman on Saturday, 17 September, but ran from there also.

He was arrested on suspicion of possessing an unlicensed firmarm, police said.

Police pointed out that the there was no connection between the arrest of the man and the recent murders in West Bay, but said it was connected with the recovery of a 9mm semi-automatic pistol and ammunition in Bodden’s Road, George Town.

On Saturday, 17 September, Royal Cayman Islands Police K-9 units and helicopter searched a wooded area near the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman for the man who ran from police after he was pulled over.

  1. I wonder what a tourist thought Saturday afternoon about the Chopper suspended over 7 mile beach blasting over the loud speaker come out with your hands up. Please tell me this is International protocol when a Suspect is in the bushes, can’t be seen and the speakers are in earshot of thousands of paying tourists. It certainly had a strong message to those who we want to stay on the Island. Leave now, keep your money in your pockets and don’t come back.
