The Cayman Islands Tourism Association is seeking fun ideas about marine life on the USS Kittiwake.
These will be then illustrated by Cayman artist Jo Austin, who will create a piece for children to colour in. This will be distributed to restaurants that are members of the association, around the dates of the anniversary of the sinking of the former military vessel in January to make an artificial reef off the shores of Grand Cayman. The illustrations also will be distributed to local schools.
The association said within the illustration will be fun children-friendly one liners about the marine life on the ship.
For example, there could be an image of a Goliath Grouper with a line such as, “I’m a Goliath Grouper and I love to look at myself in the bathroom of the Kittiwake ship”.
The association said it ‘needs more fun tidbits for this illustration to educate children about the new dive site and get them excited about life beneath the sea.’
The Cayman Islands Tourism Association is available on 949-8522.
