I read in the Compass that our Cayman Government had made a deal with China to build and service the dock in George Town and the Spotts Jetty. I am asking this government why did we make a deal with China to do this deal when we have American and Canadian companies that are our partners here in the west.
We must be very careful of who we partner with, for I know that China did not help build us up as we are now. The countries that gave us most of what we have now should be the ones to still help us with such things as the cruise ship dock in George Town. After all, the cruise ships are not from China and they only bring American dollars to our shores, so why was an American company not used?
Now after I heard that Mr. McKeeva Bush had gone to China to waste our money I wrote a piece in the paper where I stated that soon after his return we would be in the near future invaded with Chinese. Well, it did not take long for him to show his colours for here we have him stating to the Islands people about Chinese company and workforce that will come to Cayman. How many people form China? He never stated. But you can rest assured it will be a lot of these Chinese. We must be very careful doing things that might affect us with other countries that really help us. America gave us electric power and helped to take us out of the poverty that we lived in.
Now that we are somewhat out of great poverty we should not turn our backs on her in such areas as her companies building large projects for us like cruise ship docks. Where was China when England, America and Canada and Jamaica was our shoulder to lean on? The money that we had come to us to help us out was from these countries and the workforce that built Cayman as it is today also came from those countries. So why has McKeeva Bush gone and made a deal with people that have never helped us and are not out for our best interest
?
Keep that money in the hands of people and countries that we depend on. Word to the not so wise: Be careful who you let come into your house, Caymanians.
Now Mr. Bush can you tell the Caymanian public why you never chose an American or Canadian or English company to help us build these projects?
We do not need any Chinese workforce on our Island. You have not asked the people about this. As always you make these deals and try and force it upon the people.
To all my Caymanian people say no to the China deal.
