Police have released the name and a photo of the man who allegedly pepper-sprayed police officers at a residence in George Town on Wednesday afternoon.
Citing the matter as one of “public safety”, police confirmed on Thursday that they are looking for 43-year-old Simon Julio Newball, of George Town.
The RCIPS is urging members of the public not to approach Newball, whom they described as armed and dangerous, but to call 9-1-1.
“Detectives are seeking the assistance of the public in locating the wanted man on suspicion of threats to kill, possession of a restricted weapon, and other offences relating to [Wednesday’s] incident,” the brief police statement said.
According to police, officers had been responding to a report of an incident at an address off Walkers Road Wednesday afternoon, when they say they were obstructed by Newball.
He reportedly brandished a machete and pepper spray, then assaulted officers with the pepper spray. He then fled the location, according to a police statement on Wednesday.
The affected officers have undergone decontamination.
Newball is approximately 5 feet, 6 inches in height, of slim build and of light brown complexion.

Hopefully they have the suspect’s name and photo. Perhaps it could be released so the public can call the police if they see him?
