West Bay man charged in relation to shootings, drugs

A West Bay man has been taken into custody in relation to multiple shooting and drug related offences.

In a statement issued by the RCIPS on Friday 15 Oct., police said the charges stem from two separate shootings, as well as a separate investigation that dates back to 17 July 2021.

“The charges relate to the Shedden Road and Canal Point Drive shooting incidents which took place in the morning of Monday 11 Oct,” reads the statement in part.

The 29-year-old was taken into custody on Wednesday.

Police say he has been charged with two counts of possession of an imitation firearm, two counts of possession of ganja with intent to supply, possession of utensils used in the consumption of ganja, possession of ganja and consumption of ganja.

Officers say he made an initial Court appearance on Friday, where he was remanded into custody and is to return on the Thursday 21 Oct.

Police are also investigating a third shooting incident which also occurred on Monday 11 Oct. The West Bay man taken into police custody has not been charged in relation to this offence. Police have not said whether he is being investigated in relation to it.
