Police confirmed they are investigating three shooting incidents, all of which occurred in the early hours of Monday morning, one in West Bay and two in George Town.
No injuries have been reported following the shootings.
Police said, in a statement Monday, there is a possibility these incidents may be linked and they believe they are “contained to a specific group of individuals”.
“We are keeping an open mind at this early stage of the investigation,” a brief Royal Cayman Islands Police Service statement read.
The first incident was reported at around 1:10am in the area of Finch Drive, West Bay.
The RCIPS Firearms Response Unit responded after a report of shots being fired was lodged with 911.
Police said when officers arrived at the location, they found what appeared to be bullet holes in two unattended vehicles.
One vehicle’s petrol tank was damaged and the Fire Services were called in to prevent any further damage to the vehicle or threat to public safety.
Shortly after that incident, police responded to two further reports of shots being fired at two separate locations in George Town.
The second incident occurred just after 1:50am at the Pedestrian Plaza on Shedden Road in the vicinity of Printers Way.
The third incident was reported just before 2:15am and took place at The Strand off Canal Point Road.
The Crime Scene Investigating Officer processed both scenes and certain articles of evidence were collected, police said.
Those involved in both shootings left the scenes before the police arrived.
Investigations into these incidents are underway and the police are appealing to anyone with information that might assist in these investigations to call the Major Incident Room at 649-2930.
