Island Innovation will be hosting the Island Innovation Awards in partnership with the Clinton Global Initiative. The Awards will recognise individuals, organisations and technologies driving positive change for remote and island communities globally.
The awards and nomination process was officially launched by President Bill Clinton during the Virtual Island Summit last month, which attracted over 14,000 attendees globally.
We’re calling for individuals, organisations and projects to apply and nominate to the awards, which are focused on celebrating excellence in sustainability. Winners will be publicized across Island Innovation and Clinton Global Initiative networks, resulting in exposure to thousands of people globally.
Applications will also be reviewed by an esteemed jury, which includes:
* Anote Tong, Former President of Kiribati
* James Michel, Former President of the Republic of the Seychelles
* Peter Thompson, UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for the OceanUN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for the Ocean
* Dr. Marcella Nunez-Smith, Associate Professor of Medicine, Public Health, Yale School of Medicine & The COVID-19 Equity Task Force Chair for President Biden
* Christine Milne, current Global Greens Ambassador, former Leader of the Australian Greens and former Senator for Tasmania
* Daniel Kammen, Professor of Energy at the University of California and Former Science Envoy, US Department of State
* Sir Hilary Beckles, Vice-Chancellor, University of the West Indies
* Fekitamoeloa Katoa ‘Utoikamanu, Former High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States
