Bodden Town man identified as fatal crash victim

Bodden Town resident Courtney Oneil Bennett has been identified as the victim in Thursday’s deadly crash at the Cost-U-Less roundabout on Esterley Tibbetts Highway.

The 43-year-old man was one of two occupants in a white sedan that collided with a concrete structure on the roundabout in the early morning hours of Thursday, 6 Jan.

Bennett is Cayman’s first road fatality for 2022.

The second occupant, a woman, remains in hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

In a statement, police said that around 1am on 6 Jan., the sedan was travelling north along Esterley Tibbetts Highway when it left the roadway and collided with the concrete structure.

The Cayman Islands Fire Service freed the man and woman before they were transported to Cayman Islands Hospital by ambulance.

Bennett succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by the attending doctor on 6 Jan.
