Fully vaccinated travellers arriving in the United Kingdom from 11 Feb. will no longer be required to take a COVID-19 test, Britain’s transport minister Grant Shapps announced Monday.
Currently, vaccinated people entering the UK must take a lateral flow test within two days of their arrival.
Speaking in parliament, Shapps said that, from 4am on 11 Feb., “in time for the half-term break, eligible fully vaccinated passengers arriving in the UK will no longer have to take a post-arrival lateral flow test”.
He added, “That means that after months of pre-departure testing, post-arrival testing, self-isolation, additional expense, all that fully vaccinated people will now have to do when they travel to the UK is to verify their status via a passenger locator form.”
He said it was obvious to him that border testing for vaccinated travellers had “outlived its usefulness and we’re therefore scrapping all travel tests for vaccinated people”.
Individuals who are not fully vaccinated are still required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test before travelling and take a PCR test within two days of arriving in the UK. However, the requirements for those travellers to isolate until the result of the day two test is known, and to take another test on day eight, have been scrapped.
Shapps told parliament, “Today I can confirm that our international travel regime will now be liberalised as part our efforts to ensure that 2022 is the year in which restrictions on travel, on lockdowns and limits on people’s lives are firmly placed in the past.”

YES!! Cayman, implement this!!
Yeah, maybe CIG will do the same and my late Feb vacation will still be a go!
Time for Cayman to cut the crap and follow suit. Covid is endemic.
Dear PACT,
Read this:

It’s frustrating to realize that Premier Panton and his cabinet still feel that they know more about managing Covid than both the CDC and British health agencies do.
Cayman has got to get rid of all of this testing. Tourism will not return when there is the threat of imprisoning visitors because of a Covid infection they contracted after arriving from a Caymanian.
