Willard Guidelitti Hurlston has been convicted in the Grand Court of indecently assaulting a woman while she slept.
The incident occurred on 23 Dec. 2021, sometime after 4am, when Hurlston, 48, used a key to unlock the bedroom door of the sleeping woman. The woman awoke to find herself being indecently assaulted by Hurlston.
During the trial, Hurlston claimed that the victim made up the allegations against him because she wanted him to transfer a car into her name, which he had refused to do.
When returning the guilty verdict, Justice Phillip St. John-Stevens said that even though Hurlston’s DNA was not found on the clothes of the victim, he was still convinced of the man’s guilt, based on the exchange of text messages between the victim and Hurlston following the incident.
St. John-Stevens stated that messages from Hurlston, which said, “Sorry, sorry, please don’t tell” and that he “would never do it again” were admissions of guilt.
Hurlston’s bail was revoked following the guilty conviction, and he will be sentenced on 29 April.
