A man accused of a rape in Cayman Brac has been further remanded in custody pending a court appearance later in February.
Andrew Frederick, 32, who lives on Cayman Brac, appeared in Grand Court from custody at HMP Northward through a video link on Friday, 6 Feb.
Justice Cheryll Richards agreed to adjourn the case until 20 Feb. for the Crown to serve papers to defence counsel.
It is alleged that Frederick raped a man, said to be known to him, in the area of the island’s Cemetery Road sometime after midnight on 31 Jan.
Police said the alleged victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was transported to Faith Hospital, where he was examined by a doctor and released.
The defendant, arrested on 2 Feb., made a first appearance in Summary Court on 4 Feb. and was remanded in custody for a further appearance.
Police said at the time the investigation into the alleged incident continued and appealed for anyone with information that could assist the inquiry to contact them.
