Police say a man who was shot on Wednesday night has undergone surgery at the Cayman Islands Hospital and is now in stable condition.
In a statement released by the RCIPS earlier today, 21 April, a spokesperson said the victim received a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.
“He was treated at the hospital for possible life-threatening injuries as a result, but is now in stable condition,” police said.
The shooting occurred on Oakland Close, in Windsor Park, George Town, shortly after 5:30pm, at an address commonly referred to as ‘Big Yard’.
At the scene, Cayman Compass staff were told by eye-witnesses that the victim and the gunman were known to each other, and the shooting occurred after a shard of glass from a broken bottle, thrown by the injured man, got into the eye of a child.
“Detectives are appealing for anyone who was present at the location to come forward and provide information by calling the George Town Police Station at 949-4222,” said police.
