Eric Brian Williams Soto made an initial Summary Court appearance on Monday, 2 May, on charges of illegal gun possession, after being taken into custody Friday night during an intense manhunt.
Williams Soto, 20, of Newlands, was one of two men stopped by armed police along the Esterley Tibbetts Highway shortly after 6pm on 29 April. Both men fled the vehicle, but Williams Soto was tracked down a short time later. Police on Monday were still searching for the second man, who they have identified as Justin Kyle Jackson.
Magistrate Kirsty-Ann Gunn, who presided over the matter, remanded the defendant into custody.
