Firearm charges against Eric Brian Williams Soto have been transferred to the Grand Court.

Appearing in Summary Court via video link on Tuesday, 10 May, Williams Soto elected to have two charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm be transferred to the Grand Court, where he will enter a plea and have the right to request a jury trial.

The charges stem from an incident on 29 April, when a car in which Williams Soto was the passenger was motioned by police to pull over. However, instead of stopping as requested, driver Justin Kyle Jackson fled the scene.

The two were later intercepted by armed police, at which time both men fled the vehicle. A 9mm semi-automatic handgun with nine rounds of ammunition was recovered from the white Toyota Yaris.

Williams Soto was apprehended a short time later and has since been charged with possession of that gun. He will appear before the Grand Court tomorrow (11 May) where he will make an application for bail, after having been remanded into custody by the Summary Court.
