Culture at the Cinema: ‘Henry V’

Kit Harington is Henry V in the latest stage production of Shakespeare's play.

Fans of the groundbreaking HBO series ‘Game of Thrones’ might be interested to see Jon Snow in a whole new light.

Culture at the Cinema, which brings international theatre productions and ballets to the big screen, is presenting ‘Henry V’ on 18 June at 8pm, at Camana Bay Cinema, and actor Kit Harington is in the title role.

Recorded live at the Donmar Warehouse in London, one of Shakespeare’s best known historical plays is portrayed in a more modern age, but the story remains the same.

Fresh to the throne, King Henry V launches England into a bloody war with France. When his campaign encounters resistance, this inexperienced new ruler must prove he is fit to guide a country into war.

Directed by Max Webster (Life of Pi), this exciting modern production explores what it means to be English and the relationship to Europe, asking: do we ever get the leaders we deserve?

Harington has won rave reviews for his performance, so even if he never again dons his heavy winter wardrobe on television, it seems he may be just fine treading the boards in the future.
