After months of training, public appearances, a motorcade and sashing ceremony, eight contestants took to the stage at the Westin Resort in front of a capacity ballroom on Saturday, 6 Aug., to vie for the title of Miss Cayman Islands Universe.
A variety of entertainment, along with such competitions as evening gown and swimwear, culminated in the winner being announced around approximately 11:30pm. Contestant #7 Tiffany Conolly, wearing a sparkling silver formal dress, was awarded the coveted sash, trophy, crown and all the prizes that went with them, including a $70,000 three-year educational scholarship.
Miss Cayman 2021 Georgina Kerford crowned her to loud cheers, before Conolly took her first walk along the extended runway as Miss Cayman Islands Universe 2022.
Second runner-up was Hayley Grizzel, with first runner-up going to Chloe Powery-Doxey.
A number of special awards were announced before the main titles, with a few of the ladies winning multiple times. The Ted Green Brand Ambassadorship went to Chloe Powery-Doxey, who also got Best Legs.
Miss Best in Gown went to Tiffany Conolly, who additionally walked away with Miss Photogenic and Best Smile. Angelina Brown won Miss Personality and Most Improved, with Whitney Foster winning the People’s Choice award.
Hosts Caitlin Tyson (Miss Cayman 2018) and Mariah Tibbetts (Miss Cayman 2020) brought a lot of energy to the evening, as well as some valuable insight from their own pageant experiences. They also knew how to exquisitely stretch out the tension near the end of the proceedings, when the audience members were on the edge of their seats, dying to hear the results.
Each time the crowd was asked who they were there to support, they enthusiastically responded, yelling back the names of their favourites. Their voices were reaching a fever pitch by the time the final envelope was opened.

Conolly was all smiles as she carried her bouquet of flowers around the stage, before posing for photographs with the runners-up, family, friends and fans.
The win was not without its controversy, however.
Critics took to social media to lambast the result, as Conolly currently faces charges, relating to common assault and damage to property. The case was administratively adjourned earlier this year; she has not been convicted and will stand trial at a later date.
Other entertainment on the evening included a choreographed dance performance from the contestants, and live music, courtesy of Rico Rolando and Burmon Scott.
