
A proclamation ceremony for King Charles III will be held outside Government House, along West Bay Road, on Sunday, 11 Sept.
Charles, the eldest son of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, ascended to the throne following the death of his mother, in accordance with royal protocol and rules of succession.
The funeral of Queen Elizabeth II will be held Monday, 19 Sept., which will be observed as a public holiday in Britain and the Cayman Islands.
The local proclamation Sunday comes one day after His Majesty was proclaimed King in a meeting of the Accession Council at St James’s Palace.
“The Cayman Islands will have its proclamation ceremony in Grand Cayman where dignitaries and the community will gather together to witness His Excellency the Governor, Martyn Roper, read the Proclamation of the new Sovereign,” a government spokesperson said in a statement.
Following the proclamation, a 21-gun salute will be held.
The public is being asked to arrive by 8:30am. The official dress code is business formal black, and the public is “encouraged to wear black as a mark of respect”.
The RCIPS has warned of road closures and diversions beginning from 6pm Saturday 10 Sept., to 12pm Sunday, 11 Sept.
