Letter to Editor: Reducing travel times is crucial

Reducing travel times from George Town and East End, Bodden Town and North Side, is crucial.

An East-West Arterial road is needed to allay traffic congestion into and out of George Town, the capital of the Cayman Islands. George Town (by population) is the largest city in the British Overseas Territories.

Traffic congestion to and from the capital is awful now. If the 10-mile-long multi-lane highway from Bodden Town to Frank Sound Road is approved by Government, the destruction of the forest and wetlands will be immense.

If Government decides not to move forward with the arterial road plan (because of the detrimental impact to the environment and other objections), another plan should be adopted. Traffic congestion in George Town must not worsen in the near future.
