Cayman’s first world champion Jordan Crooks swam into the record books yet again during day one of the 2023 SEC Swimming & Diving Championships on Tuesday, 14 Feb.
Crooks recorded the fastest-ever 50-yard butterfly split, clocking 18.90 seconds to help Tennessee win the SEC title in the 200-medley relay at the Rec Center Natatorium in College Station, Texas.
Crooks’ time shattered the previous 50 fly record of 19.36, jointly held by Joseph Schooling and Eric Friese.
Joining Crooks in making history as a team were Björn Kammann, Michael Houlie and Gui Caribe who all contributed to the first-place finish in 1:21.43, which marked the second-fastest time in SEC history and set a new SEC Championship meet record.
The competition runs through 18 Feb.
