Sea walls responsible for beach erosion

Regarding your report about the beach, specifically by Royal Palms, I have been walking along that beach since 1960, long before there was any major beach development or any ‘retaining walls’. There is clear evidence for the eye to see that when a wall is built, you lose the beach.

See the properties seaside of Cayman Sands Village, Dart property (used to be the West Indian Club), the bar referenced in this article, the Radisson hotel (now Marriott), and others along the north end of the beach by Boggy Sand Road.

The evidence is clear for the eye to see and I have been puzzled by this fact from the decisions both from the Planning Board and the property owners themselves. You can’t fight Mother Nature.
