Police are hunting a robber, armed with a knife, on a bicycle who mugged a female pedestrian in broad daylight on Friday morning, 17 March, in Seymour Road, George Town.
The 40-year-old woman was walking along Seymour Road, in the vicinity of the cement factory, around 11:30am, when the cyclist rode up to her and grabbed her blue handbag from her shoulder.
Police said when the victim saw the knife, she released her bag, and the man rode off with the handbag, which contained money and other personal items, in the direction of North Sound Road.
The woman described the robber as short, of dark complexion, with plaited short hair and a small beard under his chin. He was wearing jean shorts and a black T-shirt.
The RCIPS are investigating this incident and detectives are encouraging anyone with information to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222. Alternatively, anonymous tips can be provided directly to the RCIPS via its confidential tip line at 949-7777 or via its website.
