Caymanian sailor Ciara Murphy competed at the UK National Qualifier Series in Weymouth, held 18-19 March, where she won first Girl Overall and second overall among boys and girls for the under-16 category.
Murphy, 14, who attends the Royal Hospital boarding school in the UK, said she was happy with her results at the national regatta.
“Conditions were light and challenging on day one,” she said. “The fleet was pretty even after the first day of racing. Overall, I was pleased with the weekend’s racing and am looking forward to the next qualifier this weekend.”
Murphy will be representing the Cayman Islands in the ILCA 4 Youth European Championships in Cadiz, Spain, in April and in the ILCA 4 Youth World Championship in Greece in July.
