West Bay West MP McKeeva Bush has denied assaulting two women at a government function last year, and will now go to trial before a jury in September.

Appearing before Justice Cheryll Richards in Grand Court for the first time on 14 April, Bush, who was wearing a face mask, limped in with the partial use of a walker, before sitting on the wooden bench in the dock.

The veteran politician faces two counts of indecent assault and two counts of common assault.

The charges stem from an incident on 13 Sept. 2022 during a regional tourism conference which was hosted by the government at The Ritz-Carlton hotel.

The details of the incident were not read out in open court. Bush entered not guilty pleas to the charges of indecent assault; the additional counts of common assault were not put to him.

A seven-day trial has been set for 11 Sept. and Bush was released on conditional bail comprising his own recognisance in the sum of $950, residing at a specific address as identified by the court, and having no contact with any of the complainants or witnesses.

At the time of the alleged incidents, Bush was Speaker of the House, which prompted public criticism and calls for his resignation.
