An incomplete indictment against Cayman Marl Road’s Sandra Hill has delayed a case of alleged blackmail and prompted further warnings of a dismissal application by her attorney.
On Friday, 14 April, Hill appeared before the Grand Court on a single count which alleges that she blackmailed businessman John Felder.
However, no pleas could be entered because a full indictment had not been filed at the time of the hearing.
Amelia Fosuhene, who represents Hill, cautioned the courts that based on the information provided to her about the Crown’s case, she would be applying to have the matter thrown out.
“I have seen the charges and if the indictment follows the charges then I intend to make a dismissal application,” said Fosuhene. “I have asked the prosecution for all additional information in relation to this matter, and it would be helpful not to have to draft an application only to be served with copious amounts of disclosure.”
Hill, who is on unconditional bail, was released and is due to return to court on 28 April, at which time the prosecution is expected to produce a full indictment.
“If on the 28th the prosecution does not provide the additional discourse, and depending on the indictment, I will then ask to set a date for a dismissal application,” said Fosuhene.
