
Police are investigating an incident that left one man dead and another in custody after an apparent bout of road rage.
In a brief statement to the Cayman Compass, a spokesperson for the RCIPS confirmed one male has died and another male was arrested.
When Compass staff arrived at the scene of the collision, which occurred off Robert Foster Drive in the vicinity of George Town Yacht Club, officers were still carrying out preliminary investigations.
It is not clear what sparked the incident. However, a spokesperson for 911 dispatch centre told the Compass that the situation was reported shortly after 8:20pm on Saturday, 8 July.
“We received a report of a disturbance involving a vehicle versus a person,” said the spokesperson.
“When officers arrived on scene, a man was found unresponsive and not breathing.”
Police are encouraging anyone who might have witnessed the incident to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222.
Anonymous tips can be provided directly to the RCIPS via the Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777 or through the RCIPS website, though police are asking people to leave their contact details when calling 911 as a witness.
