Caymanians who are due a reassessment to determine their eligibility for government financial support now have until 10 Nov. to submit their application forms.
They will also get any payment which may have been put on hold due to missing applications, the Needs Assessment Unit said in a press release.
“At the Needs Assessment Unit, we value assistance, but must also ensure compliance with eligibility requirements,” NAU Director Tamara Hurlston said.
“Periodic reassessments ensure that our assistance is given to those who qualify and need it most.
“These assessments occur every three years, aligning with individual circumstances and our eligibility criteria.”
The NAU decided to extend the grace period to 10 Nov. following consultation with the Ministry of Social Development.
“Your benefits are secure as long as you meet this extended deadline and remain eligible for financial assistance,” Hurlston said.
Tamara Ebanks, chief officer of the Ministry of Social Development, said there should be additional notice provided prior to termination of services.
“If you didn’t receive your September payment of financial assistance due to a pending reassessment, rest assured that by 6 Oct., you will be temporarily reinstated.
“However, if pending requirements are not submitted to the Needs Assessment Unit within the extended grace period, the result will be termination of services for non-compliant clients by 31 Dec. at the latest.”
Anyone applying for assistance for the first time or renewing aid can fill in an online application form at the NAU website.
The NAU is hosting district days in West Bay on Friday, 6 Oct.; Bodden Town on Friday, 13 Oct. 13.; and East End and North Side on Friday, 20 Oct.
