Lev Fahy, of Camana Bay Aquatic Club, is one of many athletes that showed major improvements after only the second meet of the domestic swim season.
The 13-year-old, who trains under top coach Grant Ferguson, swam to six personal best times at the Mike Lockwood Memorial Meet, held at the Lions Aquatic Centre from 3-5 Nov.
“It’s been pretty good,” Fahy told the Compass following the meet’s Saturday, 4 Nov. session. “I’ve been swimming a lot of PBs… and swimming PBs is amazing, especially so early on in the season. It’s really good to drop so much time.”
In the six races in which he recorded personal bests, he earned five gold medals and a silver. In those events, he finished the 200-metre freestyle in 2:11.09, 50m backstroke in 30.68, 100m free in 59.55, 50m free in 27.53, 50m butterfly in 31.21, and the 100m back, where he took second in 1:07.68 behind teammate Luke Higgo.
Fahy also contributed to CBAC winning the 200m and 400m free relays. He said his performance from the weekend event is a result of his hard training.
“The training has been really good,” he said. “It’s been a lot of fun swimming.”
Next up on the Cayman Islands Aquatic Sports Association calendar is the Coconut Cup from 1-3 Dec., for their third swim meet of the season.
