Unemployed Caymanians and the unemployed spouses of Caymanians are invited to help beautify the islands through the government-led National Community Enhancement Winter Project.
They will assist with repairs and maintenance, gardening, garbage collection, or cleaning parks, beaches and roadside verges.
The NICE Project is organised by the Ministry of Planning, Agriculture, Housing and Infrastructure.
“This initiative not only uplifts our neighbourhoods but also offers a helping hand to those in need during the holiday season,” the ministry said in a press release issued on 15 Nov.
To take part, applicants must be Caymanians or spouses of Caymanians, aged 18 or older, unemployed, and medically fit to work from 7am to 3pm from 4-15 Dec.
Minister Jay Ebanks, in the press release, said the annual initiative reflects the government’s “unwavering commitment to the well-being of our people”.
“We are dedicated to giving back to our community and providing opportunities for unemployed Caymanians to actively participate in beautifying our beloved islands,” he said.
Applicants must fill in a digital application with their photo ID and one other form of identification.
Successful applicants will receive a stipend for their participation, and they may be asked to work outside of their districts of residence.
