Main Story
Work has continued on the Chamber’s communications strategy to reflect our vision and objectives. We are continually looking at improving ways to reach our membership and community in the most effective ways.
The CHAMBER magazine was last year recognised for the prestigious international award of Gold Medal winner for the 27th Annual Awards for Communications Excellence organised by the American Chamber of Commerce Executives.
There are many aspects of the day-to-day role of our marketing communications but these are a few of our accomplishments of 2011:
- Developed and produced the Future of Cayman interactive website
- Developed and produced the Future of Cayman Strategic Report for print
- Produced 4 CHAMBER Magazines
- Entered CHAMBER Magazine in ACCE Communications Excellence Award resulting in a Gold Medal
- Produced updated Chamber membership brochure
- Created and maintained Facebook page for Future of Cayman
- Created and maintained Twitter account for Future of Cayman
- Updated and produced new Chamber retractable banners
- Updated leadership Cayman materials
- Updated Mentoring Cayman materials
- Designed and produced the Chamber’s Desktop Calendar
- Assisted new Marketing Network group with development of survey, mission statement and promotions of inaugural meeting
- CHAMBER Magazine
The CHAMBER Magazine has undergone some changes over the past two years reflecting the modernisation of the Chamber’s communications as a whole. Last year in particular we drew our readers’ focus to the Future of Cayman and the people behind this innovative economic development initiative.
By acknowledging members of our community on the cover of the magazine, along with a supporting interview, we are connecting the public and our members with ‘people’ and not just an organisation.
In addition to a number of other tweaks and changes we have devised more creative advertising options to allow for increased marketing flexibility for our members. We enjoyed record advertising sales last year, which we hope is indicative of your support and approval of this publication.
Be Informed
The Chamber’s BE INFORMED series was developed to keep our membership up-to-date with current issues and connect members with the experts involved. We believe that there is no better way to make an informed decision or opinion than by hearing the facts for yourself and having a chance to ask questions.
Last year we held BE INFORMED presentations on the proposed re-alignment of labour, employment and pension services presented by the Ministry; a crime prevention update presented by the RCIPS; the National Energy Policy presented by the NEP Committee; the Future of Cayman Strategic Report Launch presented by the Chamber; and the China Harbour Engineering Fact Finding Report presented by the Chamber and related parties.
The Future of Cayman Website
The FoC website was developed as an interactive tool to follow the progress of the FoC driver groups in support of the findings of the FoC Strategic Report. The website is full of positive imagery and text depicting a snapshot of life in the Cayman Islands.
Featured on the home page are the drivers that have become the heart of the FoC initiative, developed by focus groups and identified as key to the economic success of Cayman. Click on a driver and it will take you to objectives and actions and then you start to see a plan evolve.
The co-chairs are responsible for motivating and guiding their driver group members and to relay progress and information back to the Steering Committee. This information will be posted to the website and key performance indicators will measure the outcomes from the driver groups’ activities.
Members of the public will also be able to follow progress using Twitter and Facebook, as well as other social media tools.
The site also offers an opportunity to endorse the initiative and send an email or letter directly to your MLA at the click of a button. Businesses or individuals can also upload their logos in support of the FoC.
