George Town man arrested for weekend break-in

A 27-year-old man remained in custody on Tuesday as investigations continued into a series of commercial break-ins in George Town.

Police said between Sunday, 28 Jan. and Monday, 29 Jan., officers responded to five reports of burglaries of commercial premises in and around the waterfront and central George Town.

In each of the incidents, according to a police press release, a glass door or window was broken in order to gain entry.

Following inquiries, police arrested the George Town man on Sunday, 28 Jan. on suspicion of burglary in relation to an incident earlier that day at a store on Hospital Road.

The man is also believed to be connected to a number of other recent commercial burglaries, police said.
