Following a recall of several of its products last month, Quaker Oats is recalling additional cereal bars over salmonella concerns.
The company, which distributes its products in Cayman through Progressive Distributors Ltd., says it is now recalling additional cereals, bars and snacks “because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems”.

The items distributed to the Cayman Islands include 14.5oz Quaker Oatmeal Squares Cinnamon; 14.5oz Quaker Oatmeal Squares Brown Sugar; and boxes containing 12 1.23oz Quaker Chewy Granola Bars Yogurt Strawberry Flavor. Each of these affected items have best-before dates between 11 Jan. 2024 and 1 Oct. 2024.
The earlier recall included all sizes of Chewy Classic and 25% less sugar Granola Bars, Chewy Dipps Granola Bars, Big Chewy Bars, Quaker Simply Granola and Quaker Granola Cereals. Some of those products may be included in Frito Lay Multi-Packs, the company noted.
Quaker Oats is advising potential consumers to check their pantries for any of the listed products and discard them.
“Additionally, consumers with any of the mentioned products can return the described product to the original store where they purchased it, presenting their purchase receipt,” the company said in a press release.

Quaker noted that it has not received reports of illnesses related to the products covered by this market withdrawal, but that it has reported its recall actions to the relevant local authorities.
The recall only applies to the specific products listed, and does not include any other Quaker products, the company stated.
