Police appeal for public’s help to locate missing teens

Police have appealed for the public’s help in locating two teenagers, Joshua Whittaker and Shantelle Aguilar, both of whom have been reported missing.

Whittaker, 15, was reported missing on 23 Feb. while Aguilar, 14, was reported missing on 20 Feb.

Police said Whittaker was last seen in the company of three females on the night of 22 Feb., and he did not return home.

According to a police press release, lines of enquiry have resulted in reports of sightings of Whittaker since that date, but he has not yet been located.

He is described as being about 6’ 5” tall, of slim build and with a light brown complexion.

Aguilar, police said, has been seen by members of her family since being reported missing, and is posting on social media.

Police said they have checked several residences and spoken to acquaintances since the teenage girl was reported missing, but she has not yet been found.

The RCIPS reminded the public that “anyone who harbours or conceals a young person, is guilty of an offense and is liable, on conviction, to being fined $2000 and to imprisonment for three months”.

In addition, “anyone who takes or entices any person under sixteen years of age… without the consent of [their] guardian, is said to kidnap such person and is liable on conviction, to life imprisonment”.

Members of the public are encouraged not to harbour Aguilar – and other missing teens – but instead to call 911 immediately if she is seen, for her own safety.

Anyone with information on the teenagers’ whereabouts is encouraged to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222 or the MASH Unit at 649-6000.
