Police have recovered a package containing what is suspected to be cocaine along a shoreline in East End.

In a press release issued Thursday, police said just before 5pm on Tuesday, officers conducted a shoreline search in East End during which the rectangular package was recovered.

“The package contained a substance believed to be cocaine, and weighed approximately 1.3 kilograms,” police said.

The estimated value of the suspected drug is around $24,500, based on the $19,000-per-kg ‘conservative’ value the RCIPS quoted in its 2022 crime statistics for cocaine seizures.

Police said further checks were made both by the Air Operations Unit and the Cayman Islands Coast Guard, but nothing else was recovered.
