A woman was stabbed in her West Bay home Monday morning by a man who entered the residence and attacked her, police report. The man remains at large and poses a public safety threat.
Emergency services were dispatched to the Mount Pleasant area of West Bay shortly after 8am, following a call to the 9-1-1 Communications Centre, according to the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service.
“It was reported that a male who is known to the victim, entered the victim’s residence and attacked her,” RCIPS said in a press release Monday evening.
“The victim sustained several knife wounds and was transported to the hospital by ambulance, where she was treated and later released.”
The man, identified as 49-year-old Patrick McKenzie of West Bay, fled before police arrived, police say, leading to a yet unsuccessful search of the surrounding area.
RCIPS say McKenzie is a safety concern and advised anyone with information about his location to call 9-1-1 immediately.
