Caymanian footballer Molly Kehoe is among the nominees for the Genero Adran Premier league awards in Wales following her standout performance during the season.

Kehoe, 19, is one of three players nominated for ‘Young Player of the Season’; her teammate Eliza Collie is also in that race for the award.

Kehoe hit a treble with her team Cardiff City Bluebirds earlier this month, when they won the Bute Energy Welsh Cup, at Rodney Parade, defeating Wrexham 2-0.

Prior to that, her team won the Welsh Adran Premier League, the Genero Adran Trophy for the first time in the club’s history and she also received player of the month honours in November.

Kehoe’s journey to playing football in Wales began last summer after a two-week trial under Bluebird’s manager Iain Darbyshire, leading to her signing with the team and debuting in the UEFA Champions League.

Considered to be Cayman’s top footballer male or female, Kehoe went on to capture the three titles, scoring 12 goals in 24 appearances for the season – with one of those goals featured in the documentary ‘Welcome to Wrexham’.

As for her nomination, an article on the Genero Adran Premier website described Kehoe as  an unknown commodity when she first started with Cardiff, but now, “everyone knows about Kehoe”.

Voters will have until 11am Cayman time on Monday, 20 May, to choose Player of the Season, Manager of the Season and Young Player of the Season.

The votes will be combined with an independent panel and the winners announced at the Football Association of Wales National League Awards on 8 June, according to the Genero Adran Premier website.
